Supported Image formats are GIF, PNG, JPG. When you upload an image it converts to WebP format for better page performance as WebP format reduces the page load time by 50-80%.

support It seems it doesn't convert the images I upload :(
I uploaded a bunch of images yesterday and they are still png or jpeg, no Webp.-
Marine Feuilleaubois Hi! You can now choose whether your website is going to support Webp conversion or no from your Dashboard > Site Settings App, moreover adjust the Image quality.
The issue with the conversion might've been related to the fact that it couldn't be applied to the images uploaded earlier and is relevant for newly uploaded files.
